Life can change in an instant for Baltimore residents. A peaceful drive on a nice summer day can suddenly turn deadly or leave the occupants of a vehicle with serious injuries when tractor trailer accidents occur.

A tragic example of this is the crash that severely injured actor Tracy Morgan. The vehicle Morgan was riding in was struck by a Walmart truck, which was traveling more than 20 miles per hour over the speed limit at the time of the crash. The driver of the truck had been awake for more than 24 consecutive hours prior to the crash. In the aftermath of the incident, Walmart has since entered into a settlement with Morgan and the others who were injured.

And yet, Morgan and the others have had their lives changed forever. Morgan is still attempting to heal from his injuries, which left him with no memory of the incident and unable to work. He suffered multiple broken bones and brain trauma, and was in a coma for a period of time after the incident.

Despite these physical injuries, Morgan indicated the emotional toll had been worse. This included not only the emotional toll from his experience, but the impact of losing a friend who was killed in the crash.

While bones heal after time, it is much more difficult to recover from the emotional toll of a serious accident. However, those who have suffered physical and emotional injuries can obtain some relief for their injuries through a negligence action. For instance, individuals can obtain compensation to pay for physical therapy and counseling to deal with the emotional toll.

After all, the healing process entails more than mending broken bones, as individuals need to take a significant amount of time and effort to get their lives back after the tragic incident. The personal injury lawsuit will not do this by itself, but it can be an important step, along with the others, toward recovery.
