Driving can be dangerous, especially when someone violates the rules of the road. When drivers fail to follow laws set up to protect those on the road, their choices can lead to injuries or even death.

In a recent news story, the decision of a truck driver seems to have caused the death of a Maryland man. According to a police report, the Montgomery County man died in a tractor-trailer accident. The accident happened on a Saturday in October at about 2:30 a.m.

The accident occurred on Interstate 70 eastbound near the Interstate 695 exchange. A tractor-trailer attempting to make a U-turn crossed the path of a sports utility vehicle driven by the Montgomery County man. Police say the victim's car slid under the semitrailer. He was declared dead by authorities at the scene of the accident.

According to a news report, authorities are investigating the incident. They have not released any information as to whether they plan to press charges in the incident. While police investigate the criminal aspect of the incident, the family of the man who died in the crash may be entitled to compensation as a result of negligent behavior on the part of the truck driver. The decision to make an illegal U-turn may be used to determine whether the driver's behavior is considered negligent. If a wrongful death lawsuit is won, the family of the deceased man may be able to get compensation for pain and suffering, as well as lost wages.
