When individuals are out driving on Maryland roads, it can often seem as though other motorists are not driving carefully and following the rules of the road. For Baltimore residents, there is some truth in this, according to a new study.

The study, conducted by Wallethub, found that Baltimore was one of the top 10 worst cities in the country for drivers. Other officials agreed, noting the city consistently ranks among the worst in the country for motorists.

The study in question examined a number of factors, including traffic, road conditions and even the cost of gas and insurance. One key favor, however, was the safety of motorists on the road, as Baltimore had one of the highest rates for the likelihood a person would be in an auto accident. Motorists are thus encouraged to engage in defensive driving and watch out for others on the road.

While the city may lay claim to being one of the worst spots for motorists, those involved in each particular crash should understand they have rights they can enforce. Namely, the injured person can bring a personal injury action against the negligent driver who caused the crash. By doing so, individuals can obtain damages from the negligent driver, after proving the other motorists' negligence caused the accident and lead to their injuries.

Although Baltimore is now known as a hot spot for accidents, each case will ultimately turn on the particular facts at issue, rather than the general driving environment of Baltimore. Accordingly, individuals need to have a solid grasp of the facts and law that will impact their case and lead to a recovery of compensation.
