Jacob H. Dorfman
Associate

Jacob H. Dorfman, an associate at SBWD Law, handles cases throughout the State of Maryland, in a broad range of consumer protection, civil, and estate planning matters, including the drafting of wills, powers of attorney, and advance medical directives. Jacob draws upon his experience as a Family Law attorney and Mediator to better understand his clients’ needs and help them resolve their disputes with as much ease as possible.

Jacob was born and raised in New York, but moved to Maryland after being offered a full scholarship to attend law school at the University of Maryland. He wasted no time planting roots here in Maryland, clerking after graduation for the Honorable Robert Taylor, Jr. of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City before joining the firm. Jacob also interned for the Honorable Paul E. Alpert, retired from the Court of Special Appeals, and for the Honorable Wanda Keyes Heard, now retired from the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Jacob has prior experience in private practice, working as an associate attorney in the Domestic and Civil Litigation department for the Law Office of James E. Crawford, Jr. & Associates. While in law school, Jacob also clerked for the Law Offices of Isaac Klein and for the Law Offices of Kerri Cohen. Further, he has government experience, clerking for the Office of the Maryland Attorney General.

Perhaps most notable, however, is Jacob’s experience in mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Jacob has mediated employment discrimination and District Court cases with the Mediation Clinic, earning his certificates from the District Court for Maryland and from the University of Maryland in Mediation and Alternative Dispute Resolution, respectively. With all of Jacob’s experience he is well trained and ready to advocate effectively for his clients.

“I believe that all clients deserve a chance to feel heard, no matter how big or small an issue may seem. If it is important to you, then it is important to me.”
