Roanne Handler has practiced family law exclusively since 1990. Roanne joined SBWD Law in 1992, and for nearly three decades has handled divorces, custody and various support issues separate from divorces. To date, Roanne has completed approximately five thousand divorces for clients from all walks of life, many of whom are employment union members. Those cases can often be difficult because of the complexities associated with pensions, but Roanne considers that challenge to be immensely rewarding. One of Roanne’s greatest strengths is negotiating an equitable and child-centered settlement on behalf of her client, and avoiding the complexities and emotional duress of the court system. When appropriate and in the best interest of her clients, Roanne encourages and utilizes counseling and mediation in order to facilitate smooth transitions. Throughout her career, Roanne has volunteered with the Maryland Family Law Hotline, performed facilitation for the Circuit Court for Baltimore City, and handled cases for the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service. Roanne is well respected by members of the legal community and the bench for her professionalism and dedication.
Roanne received her undergraduate education at Goucher College, where she graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education. After working as a teacher for almost a decade, Roanne attended the University of Baltimore School of Law and began her second career as an attorney. Roanne uses that educational and professional experience to fully educate clients as to all aspects of their case, and be sure that they are knowledgeable about the process. A caring, but forceful advocate for her clients, Roanne is a “counselor” under both meanings of the word.
“I am always busy yet never too busy to call you back, listen to what’s going on, and provide advice and counsel.”
