Catherine Dickinson of SBWD Featured on Career Panel at Maryvale Preparatory School

Attorney Catherine A. Dickinson recently served as a panelist at Maryvale Preparatory School. Attorney Dickinson was one of four lawyers that offered advice to students during the school’s annual Career Afternoon.

Catherine Dickinson Named Panelist at Maryvale Preparatory School

Schlachman, Belsky, Weiner, & Davey, P.A. partner Catherine A. Dickinson was welcomed as a panelist at Maryvale Preparatory School’s Career Afternoon. The Career Afternoon is an annual event sponsored by the school’s Leadership Institute. Panelists are asked to share details about their careers, background, and advice for students. 

Maryvale Preparatory School is an all-girls, Catholic school located in Lutherville, Maryland. The academy consists of an Upper and Middle School with students in 6th – 12th grade. This year, 16 panelists in a wide variety of professions came together to offer Upper School students insight into their careers, experience, and more. Catherine Dickinson is an alumna of the school.

Other panelists included women in marketing, entrepreneurs, financial experts, and doctors. The yearly event is approximately three hours long and allows students to hear about the diverse career paths of alumnae, parents, and community members. 

Advice for Maryvale Students

Attorney Dickinson offered sound advice for Maryvale Preparatory students. She noted that while striving for “professional and academic goals” is important, so is prioritizing free time since many lessons can be learned from “hobbies and unexpected life turns.” She encouraged students to make time to do what makes them happy, noting that it will make them “a better student and professional moving forward.”

Experience of Attorney Dickinson

After graduating from Villanova with a Bachelor of Arts in 2008, attorney Catherine A. Dickinson attended University of Baltimore School of Law. While pursuing her law degree, she served on the University’s Law Forum Journal. She also interned at the Judicial Institute of Maryland and worked for several judges at various levels of the judicial system in Maryland. 

After receiving her Juris Doctorate she served as a Judicial Law Clerk at a Baltimore County Circuit Court before working for a defense litigation firm. Throughout her legal career she has given back to the community, volunteering as a Mock Trial coach and judge and sitting as a Gala Committee Member for the Walters Art Museum.
